My favorite is the charming mate latte, but my son swears by the tea hot chocolate. He says it's the best drink in the whole world!

They have an organic salad bar, a prepared foods counter, fresh soups (usually at least one vegan choice) that change daily, and a menu of sandwiches and smoothies. Try the VALT and swap the cheese for hummus, or the jerk tempeh and pair it up with a vegan superfood smoothie.
This amazing group of people can usually be found at the Denton Community Market on Saturdays from April-November dishing out amazing vegan food! They have breakfast foods, nachos, burgers, tacos, and award winning tofu scrambles. Baked goods are sold at Big Mike's Coffee, Banter, and Jupiter House. Green Zatar 609 Sunset 940-383-2051 Vegan Verdura! It's a wonderful plate of rice with sautéed veggies and chickpeas. Get it without the yogurt sauce. They also have it available as a sandwich wrapped in pita without the rice. Or, go for the falafel sandwich. Veggie combo, hummus, baba ghanoush, and salads are great as well.

The vegan "meatloaf" is officially off the menu, but Chef Sheena assures us she has a new menu in the works that shows what dishes can easily be made vegan. Until then, call ahead and tell them you're coming. They'll set you up with lovely vegetable sides that will be sure to impress.

Hickory 817-403-0356 Vegan donuts on Monday and Wednesdays until around 1:00 p.m. Usually, the choices are glazed, chocolate iced (with or without coconut flakes), cinnamon sugar, banana fritters, and cinnamon rolls. While you're there, get some coffee from Cultivar that shares the space.
Loco Cafe 603 N. Locust 940-387-1413 Their vegan options can be found here. They offer creative almond milk coffee drinks and homemade tea blends. I love the caramelized grapefruit paired with vegan breakfast tacos. Maybe if we all keep asking they'll make us some vegan baked goods as well!
LSA Burger Co 113 W. Hickory 940-383-1022 They have a really good homemade veggie burger called The Bohemian that has a nice kick to it, but please note it is made on the same grill as the meaty patties. Of course, you'll want to order without the mayo and cheese. You'll also have to get specific and ask for the gluten-free bun (because the regular one has egg) and ask them not to butter it. For another shout out to Mother Earth, please specify that you prefer to have your drink in a pint glass. Our water came in large cups made of styrofoam...maybe not the best place in town for a veggie burger (try Seven Mile) but there's the lowdown just in case.

Masa de la Raza You can find these friendly folks at the Denton Community Market on Saturdays in April-November. They make delicious tamales and empanadas that are all vegan. They have several options available and change the menu often. They're all good!
Mean Greens at UNT corner of Eagle and Ave C behind Maple Hall 940-565-2462 Park on the street in the neighborhood and walk over to Mean Greens for a super vegan dining experience! It's the nation's first ALL VEGAN dining hall! For an inexpensive price, you get the entire buffet, including drinks and dessert. The public is welcome for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are only open on weekdays during regular semesters (not summers or holidays) so plan accordingly. The website has a menu, but they don't always stick to it.

Pi House Bake Shop vendor at the Denton Community Market Pi House makes great baked goods that are vegan and usually gluten-free. I had the luck of getting some of these goodies at an art reception and was so impressed! Special orders welcome, or see them at the market for an array of cupcakes, cookies, scones and such.
